Happy Pride Month!
Your sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression does NOT prevent your from registering as a donor.
Blood donation is now significantly more inclusive for the LGBTQ+ community, with policies utilizing gender-neutral, behavioral screening questions rather than blanket bans based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Eligibility relies on individual risk assessments applied to all potential donors.
The HOPE (HIV Organ Policy Equity) Act has made possible organ donation and transplantation between HIV-positive donors and HIV positive recipients.
Members of the LGBTQIA+ community can join the NMDP bone marrow and blood stem cell registry! Everyone is welcome, and you won’t be asked about your sexual orientation when signing up.
Denver Donor Dash
Come together with nearly 5,000 people to honor, celebrate, and recognize those impacted by organ, eye, and tissue donation. Living donors and donor family members, transplant candidates, recipients, and family members, caregivers, medical professionals, nonprofit partners, and all supporters are welcome to attend!
This 5k run/walk is hosted by Donor Alliance, and held in Washington Park on Sunday, July 19 at 8am.
