About Us:
Donor Dudes is a national awareness campaign focused on spreading the life-saving message of organ, blood, and marrow donation to people in a fun and creative way wherever there is surf, skate or snow. Started by student Alex Quick on the University of California San Diego Campus in the fall of 2002, Donor Dudes is a program aimed at informing high school and college students of the need for donation. Donor Dudes has already assisted blood, marrow and organ drives at over twenty venues including high schools and colleges. Donor Dudes teams up with the local independent blood bank, Organ Procurement Organization and marrow agency to promote drives. This successful strategy – giving campus voice to existing community donor agencies -- could be copied at thousands of high school and college campuses across America. Our goal with Donor Dudes is to establish a high school and college chapter at every campus in the country to promote organ, blood, and marrow donation. Through Donor Dudes interest in action sports we hope to reach out to high school and college students, encouraging them to initiate the conversation with their families and friends about donation. Dudes and Dudettes, together we can eradicate the concept of a waiting list.

Organ & Tissue:
Nearly 93,000 people await a life-saving donation. An average of 17 people die each day because a donor is not found in time. As a donor you can save up to eight lives and improve the quality of life for fifty other people. If the rate of consent would rise the Transplant Waiting List could disappear. Commit to becoming a lifesaving organ donor and in States where an on-line organ donor registry has been established, Register to be an Organ Donor. Make your wishes known to your family. Every dude can do that!!

Blood:
Blood Donors Save Lives. Every day 10,000 Americans receive a lifesaving blood transfusion. Four and half million lives are saved each year by blood transfusions in America. One donation can save three people. While 60% of Americans are eligible to donate, only 5% do. What are you waiting for? Grab your skate and donate!

Marrow:
Every year 30,000 Americans are diagnosed with leukemia and other diseases potentially treatable with a marrow donation. One third of those patients will find a marrow match in their family. The other two-thirds will turn to the National Marrow Donor Program Registry to look for a match. join the National Marrow Donor Program Registry! Joining the National Marrow Donor Program requires only a small amount of blood (It takes just a prick of the finger).
